Mindful Mythbusters: Breaking Down Common Yoga Misconceptions
From Myth to Mat: Three Common Misconceptions About Yoga, Busted
Starting a new skill can feel intimidating, especially with all the myths floating around. We're here to break down some of the most common misconceptions about yoga and help you confidently step onto the mat.
Myth 1: Yoga is Just a Physical Workout
While yoga certainly has many physical benefits—like strength, flexibility, and mobility—it's not just another workout. A yoga practice is about uniting the mind and body into a conscious state of movement and connection. We use movement, breath, and meditation equally to achieve deep relaxation.
Myth 2: You're Too Old (or Too Young!) to Start
You need not fear, because there's no age limit to practicing yoga! You can start at any age—from preschool to 80 and beyond—and still reap the full benefits. No matter your age or ability, a yoga practice can be modified to fit your unique needs and body. Our classes are designed to be accessible to all levels, ensuring everyone feels welcome.
Myth 3: You Have to do Every Post “Perfectly”
One of the best phrases in the yoga world is that it's called "yoga practice," not "yoga perfect," and it's absolutely true. In a yoga class, you don’t need to do every pose the teacher instructs, and you definitely don’t need to do it perfectly. We encourage you to listen to your body and notice what does, or doesn't, work for you.
Practice makes... more practice! The beauty of yoga is that it's a unique and personal journey for everyone. To keep up the momentum in your practice and be the first to know about new classes and updates, join our email list!
