Grounded Supervision: Supporting Regulation, Reflection, and Resilience - Virtual CEU Training

About This Training
Clinical supervision in high-stress, trauma-exposed, and substance use treatment settings requires more than just administrative oversight. It requires a "grounded" approach that recognizes how the weight of this work impacts both the client and the provider.

This 1.5-hour interactive training explores how supervision can either support sustainable growth or unintentionally reinforce cycles of stress and shame. We will dive into the "parallel process," examining how a supervisor’s ability to remain regulated directly influences the resilience of their entire team.

Participants will move beyond compliance-based oversight to learn practical, trauma-informed strategies that foster curiosity over judgment and psychological safety over authority.

What You Will Learn

  • Define and apply trauma-informed care principles specifically to the supervisory relationship.

  • Identify the often-silent signs of vicarious trauma, burnout, and compassion fatigue in yourself and your supervisees.

  • Understand the critical role of nervous system regulation in the supervision room.

  • Practice 2–3 regulation techniques and "micro-practices" you can implement immediately to support your team during challenging moments.

Who Should Attend?
This training is specifically designed for Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists who currently provide supervision or are moving into leadership roles within addiction and trauma-informed care settings.

This program is made possible through the generous support of the Akron Community Foundation and the Summit County Opioid Healing Fund.
